Miniature Fiber Optic Splicer
Client: Aurora Optics, Amber, PA
Aurora Optics had developed a design for a miniature fiber optic splicer to be used in confined locations. The splicer mechanism had been developed, but a housing to support and enclose the splicer needed to be designed. Also, the controller module, consisting of a screen, membrane keypad and PCB needed to be designed.
Working with Aurora Optics and their industrial designer, Triumph created the design for the housing, side bumpers and clear cover for the splicer assembly as well as created the housing for the controller assembly. Triumph designed all the housing components for each assembly, including internal sheet metal brackets. Triumph also supported Aurora during the prototype fabrication phase, working closely with suppliers to ensure that the prototypes met the design requirements.
The prototype met all initial design requirements and is currently being evaluated to determine any additional changes that should be incorporated into a production design.
